What is the difference between factory-direct and reseller team uniforms?

Factory-direct team uniforms are designed, printed, cut, stitched and shipped by the company you are talking to. Reseller team uniforms are sold by a dealer, a local print shop or an online marketplace that takes your order and passes it to a manufacturer you never meet. Both can deliver a good jersey. The difference is who makes it, how many companies take a margin on the way, and who answers when something is wrong. Who actually makes the uniform you buy from a reseller?

Most team dealers and marketplace sellers do not own a sublimation line. They own a catalog, a sales team and a relationship with one or more factories. When a coach orders 20 soccer jerseys, the dealer sends the artwork to the factory, the factory prints and ships to the dealer or direct to the coach, and the dealer keeps the difference between the two prices. Online marketplaces work the same way with less human contact: the listing is a storefront, and the garment is made by whoever the seller sources from this month.

This matters for two practical reasons. First, the dealer cannot tell you with certainty where your order is, because they are not looking at it. Second, a reorder next season may come from a different factory, which is where color mismatches come from. How does margin stacking change the price of a jersey?

Every company between the factory and your team adds a margin. A factory sells to a distributor, who sells to a dealer, who sells to you. Each step is a legitimate business with staff and rent, and each step adds to the price without adding anything to the jersey. The extras are where it shows most. A dealer's base price often looks close to a factory-direct price until you add the things that are already included at Gallian Sports:

• Setup or artwork fees: commonly charged per design or per logo by resellers. Gallian Sports charges no setup fees.

Who is accountable when a jersey arrives wrong?

With a reseller, a defect becomes a three-way conversation: you tell the dealer, the dealer tells the factory, the factory decides whether it is their fault, and the answer comes back weeks later. With a factory-direct supplier, the company that printed the jersey is the one you call. When does a reseller still make sense?

A local dealer earns their margin in some situations. If you need a stocked, in-season, off-the-shelf jersey tomorrow, a shop with inventory beats any custom factory. If you want to try on branded samples from several big-name catalogs in one visit, a dealer showroom is the place. And some school districts require purchasing through an approved vendor list, which a factory-direct supplier may not be on yet.
