Custom Team Uniforms in Canada: Prices, Duties, Shipping

Why Canadian teams order from US suppliers

Canadian clubs look south for custom uniforms for three reasons: lower minimums, more choice of fully sublimated designs, and lower per-piece prices at small quantities. The catch is usually cost surprises — exchange rates, brokerage fees and duties. This guide explains how Gallian handles each one.

Prices in CAD

CAD figures use 1 USD ≈ 1.41 CAD and are approximate. Your quote shows the final total.

Duties, taxes and brokerage

Imported apparel can attract customs duty, plus GST, HST or provincial sales tax depending on where you are. Couriers may also charge brokerage. Rather than leaving you to discover these at the door, Gallian lists shipping and duties on your quote before you pay. Sales tax treatment depends on your province and the order, and is shown at the quote stage too. If anything about a quote is unclear, ask on WhatsApp before approving.

Season timing for Canadian sports

Canadian sports run on tight calendars, and uniforms that miss opening weekend usually sit in a box until next year. Hockey and ringette rosters settle in September, so associations that order in August are safest. Box lacrosse evaluations finish in March or April, which leaves little time; order a standard design early and add names once rosters are set. Outdoor soccer starts in May across most of the country, so February or March orders are ideal.

Shipping times to Canada

Order hockey and ringette jerseys in August for October games, soccer kits in February or March for May starts, and box lacrosse in January or February.

Canadian sports we make uniforms for

• Hockey: sublimated hockey jerseys, socks and the game-day package. See the hockey jersey cost guide.
• Ringette: the same sublimated hockey jersey with ringette numbering.
• Soccer: jerseys, home & away packages and club kits.
• Box and field lacrosse: reversible pinnies and shooter shirts.
• Cricket: colored cricket jerseys and trousers.
• Minor football, basketball, rugby and more: see the full sport list on the home page.

Example: a U13 hockey team in Ontario

Here is what a typical 17-player minor hockey order looks like, using the 10–24 tier:

• 17 sublimated hockey jerseys at $45.99 = $781.83 (≈ CA$1,102)
• 17 pairs of custom socks at $11.99 = $203.83 (≈ CA$287)
• Uniform subtotal: about $985.66 USD (≈ CA$1,390), or roughly CA$82 per player, before shipping and duties

If the association orders the same design for three teams (51 sets), the 50–99 tier takes 15% off every piece. Home and away colors are two designs, so each needs at least 10 pieces.

Ordering for a whole association

Minor hockey associations, soccer clubs and lacrosse leagues often order for many teams at once. The easiest way is one master design with a color or crest change per division, one roster sheet per team, and one quote for everything. Quantities of the same design add up toward the volume tiers.

Sublimation or tackle twill for hockey?

Most Canadian teams now choose fully sublimated hockey jerseys: they are lighter, the colors never crack, and names and numbers are included in the price. Some senior and beer-league teams prefer the classic look of tackle twill numbers, which adds $6 per piece. Our decoration guide compares both in detail.

Exchange rates and paying in USD

Quotes are issued in US dollars, and the CAD figures on our site use an approximate rate of 1.41. Your bank or card issuer sets the final conversion on the day you pay, so the CAD total can move slightly. Treasurers who need a CAD figure for a budget meeting can ask us for an estimate alongside the quote.

French names and bilingual jerseys

Sublimation prints accented letters such as é, è and ç exactly as written, so Quebec rosters and bilingual team names come out right. See our Montreal page.

Sizing and returns

Sizes run youth YS–YXL and adult XS–3XL, mixed freely in one order. Because every piece is custom, there are no change-of-mind returns, but production defects reported within 14 days are settled, once verified with photo or video evidence, with a credit note against a future order or a return. See shipping & returns and the sizing guide.
