What is a custom team apparel program, and why do schools need one?

A custom team apparel program is one plan that covers every piece of clothing your athletes wear, across every sport and every season: game uniforms, practice gear, warm-ups and spirit wear. Instead of each coach ordering from a different vendor with a different shade of blue, the athletic department sets the colors, the logos and the budget once, then every team orders inside that plan. What should a school athletic apparel program include?

Think in four layers. Not every team needs all four in year one, but the plan should name them so nothing gets ordered outside it.

• Game uniforms: sublimated jerseys and shorts or pants for each sport. See basketball, soccer, volleyball, ice hockey and football.
• Practice gear: reversible jerseys, shooter shirts, pinnies and shorts that get washed three times a week.

How much does team apparel cost per athlete?

Gallian Sports prices are per piece, and the price tier is based on the quantity of each design. The listed price is for 10 to 24 pieces. From 25 to 49 pieces you save 8%, from 50 to 99 pieces you save 15%, and at 100 or more pieces you save 22%. For a school ordering across several teams, the discount is where the program pays for itself.

Here is a worked example of a per-athlete budget for a basketball program at three quantity levels.

A 12-player varsity team on its own sits in the first column. Add JV and the middle school program, and the same hoodie design is now 100 pieces, so every hoodie drops to $22.61. How do you standardize colors across every team?

Color drift is the most common complaint we hear from athletic directors: the soccer team's navy does not match the basketball team's navy because they came from two vendors in two years. A program fixes this in three steps.

1. Lock the palette. Pick one primary, one secondary and one accent color, and give us the Pantone references or an existing jersey to match. We store the color profile with your account, so a reorder in two years prints the same navy.
2. Lock the logo files. Send vector artwork (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF) once. Every team's mockup pulls from the same files, so the mascot never gets stretched or redrawn.
3. Use one mockup template per sport. Your free mockup for basketball becomes the base for volleyball and soccer, with the same stripe placement and typography. Teams keep their identity through the sport-specific cut, not through a different color.

What does a season ordering calendar look like?

Production at Gallian Sports takes about 3 to 4 weeks after you approve the mockup and sizes, and rush orders take about 2 weeks. Build the calendar backwards from each season's first game and leave two weeks of margin for sizing changes and late roster additions.

• Fall sports (soccer, football, volleyball, cross country): approve mockups by late May, submit sizes by mid-June, receive in July.
• Winter sports (basketball, hockey, wrestling): approve mockups by early September, submit sizes by late September, receive in late October.
• Spring sports (baseball, softball, lacrosse): approve mockups by mid-December, submit sizes by early January, receive in February.
• Spirit wear and warm-ups: order with the fall batch so they count toward the 100+ tier, and run a second fundraiser drop before winter break.

How do bundles cut the cost of a program?
