Custom Compression Spats for Grappling and No-Gi: all designs

About custom compression spats for grappling and no-gi

Gallian custom compression spats are full-length sublimated grappling tights for no-gi BJJ, MMA and wrestling, starting at $24 a pair for 100 or more, and any design can be ordered from just 10 pairs. They are printed with your gym colours and logo and usually ordered alongside a matching rash guard from the same series.

Pricing follows four breaks: $34 a pair for 10 to 24, $30 for 25 to 49, $27 for 50 to 99 and $24 for 100 and above. That is roughly CAD 34 to CAD 48 per pair when converted at 1.41, and all prices are tentative starting points that depend on the final specification.

Spats take more strain than almost any other training garment, so the build matters. Our default is 80/20 polyester-spandex at 240 GSM, heavier than our rash guards, with 4-way stretch that recovers well after deep stretches and inversions. Flatlock seams avoid chafing, a gusseted crotch removes the weak point where cheaper tights split, and a wide elastic waistband stays put without digging in. For a softer, more premium feel, upgrade to 88/12 nylon-spandex at 250 GSM for about 15 percent more.

Why do grapplers wear spats at all? They cut down on mat burn, reduce skin-to-skin friction, make it harder for opponents to grip your legs, and many athletes simply feel warmer and looser in them, which matters in drafty winter gyms across Canada and the northern US states. They also make a strong team statement when everyone wears the same design.

Spats are cut in kids sizes YXS-YXL plus adult XS-3XL. Spats should feel firm, like a compression layer, without restricting the knee. If a member is between sizes, the larger size is usually more comfortable for longer athletes, while shorter athletes often prefer the smaller one to avoid bunching at the ankle.

When choosing a design, start with the rash guard your gym already likes. Each pair of spats belongs to one of our 11 colour series, so the leg graphics continue the look of the top. You can also order spats on their own, under a gi or under fight shorts. Send your idea and we will reply with free artwork inside 24 hours.

Frequently asked questions

What are spats in BJJ?
Spats are full-length compression tights worn for no-gi BJJ, MMA and wrestling. They protect against mat burn and make the legs harder to grip. Ours are made from 240 GSM polyester-spandex with 4-way stretch and a gusseted crotch, and they start at $24 a pair.
How tight should compression spats fit?
Spats should feel snug along the whole leg without pinching at the knee or waist. Thanks to 4-way stretch, most people simply order their normal size from XS to 3XL. Taller athletes between sizes usually go up one, while shorter athletes often size down.
Can I wear custom spats under a gi?
Yes, many grapplers wear spats under gi pants for warmth and less friction. Read your event's uniform rules first, because some competitions restrict what can be worn under the gi. For training, our 240 GSM spats sit comfortably under 10 oz ripstop gi pants.
Do your spats match the rash guards?
Yes, every spats design sits within a colour series, and most series include a matching rash guard. Ordering both creates a full no-gi set. Tops and spats are counted separately, each needing 10 pieces per design in any size mix.
Why do cheap spats split at the seams?
Cheap spats often lack a crotch gusset and use thin fabric, so seams fail under deep stretches. Our spats add a gusseted crotch, flatlock seams and 240 GSM fabric. Any manufacturing fault reported inside 14 days, backed by photo or video evidence, qualifies for a credit note or return.
